Comedians
Troy Kinne

|
|
Troy Kinne is one of Australia’s biggest up and coming comedians. After finding a passion with comedy that he knew he would never tire of he entered Raw Comedy in January of 2004. It wasn't long before Troy was performing at the open mike venues around Melbourne and meeting new people. Since then, Troy has won the ‘Search For a Funny Bone’ competition, the ‘You Gotta Be Joking Competition’ the Comic's Lounge 'Rising Star' competition, the Melbourne final of ‘FHM’s Search For Australia’s Funniest Man’ competition, and most recently the 2006 National Greenfaces comedy competition. Troy and friend Tom Siegert were both featured in the FHM's Search for Australia's Funniest Man DVD, which was supplied with 2006's January issue.
Winning the ‘You Gotta Be Joking’ Competition at The Comic’s Lounge saw Troy received the prize of a trip to New York to attend the American Institute of Comedy. While in New York, Troy won a joke-off battle competition at Sal’s Comedy Hole and also received a gig through New York Entertainment supporting Loni Love at the Mohegan Sun Casino. The highlight of the trip for Troy was simply the opportunity to perform at world famous clubs such as Caroline's on Broadway, Stand up New York, Gotham Comedy Club, the Comedy Cellar and the Comic Strip.
Although performing in New York was a dream come True for Troy, the highlight of Troy's comedy career so far was performing stand-up on the 'Hughsie Kate and Dave show' on Nova 100 as part of their weekly 'Wacky Wednesday' segment.
The main reason Troy is so glad he started stand-up is that he has made some best friends that would not have come along if it weren't for comedy. Tom Siegert, Dave Thornton, Dan Carmody, and Monty Franklin, all began stand-up at roughly the same time and performed together in a show at the Melbourne Comedy Festival this year. They now market themselves as a stand-up show of three to four 'up and coming' acts. They are known as ‘Ear Candy’ and have performed for many football club's fundraising nights around Victoria.
Apart from being on stage, the biggest thrills for Troy in comedy is simply the opportunities to support headline comics that he admires such as Pommy Johnson, Jimeoin, Hung Lee, Peter Helliar, Dave Grant, Chris Franklin, Stevie Starr, Greg Fleet, Brad Oakes, Wayne Deakin, Bob Franklin, Chris Wainhouse, CJ Fortuna, Dave O’Neil and Dave Hughes.
Troy has recently been requested to open for top Australian acts Dave Hughes, Dave O’Neil and Peter Helliar.
Troy has recently started working with radio station Gold 104.3. He can be heard doing live crosses each day as ROCKETMAN.

Dave Thornton

|
This millennium has seen the rise of the information age. We are inundated with information from texting to emailing, Googling & Youtubing.
Text messaging happens everywhere from the man on the street to Shane Warne. Even primary school kids have mobile phones!! What are they texting? ‘C U @ SNDPIT :)’? A vowel will be an endangered species in decades to come..
Anyone said the line ‘I don’t have a pen- can you email that to me at whogivesacrap@imtoolazytowritethis.com?’
In the 80’s downloading was when you put a tape player up to the radio and pressed ‘play’ and ‘record’ and hoped the radio announcer didn’t talk over the top of it. ‘Youtube’ was just a description used by people who did their own plumbing!
Never in the history of this world has communication been easier to access or deliver. Then the question is what are we doing with it?
Dave Thornton is one of the best up-and-coming comedians in Australia today. He has performed nationally to rave reviews whilst also appearing on the 2007 series of Comedy Inc. The Late Shift (ch.9).
After being nominated for Best Newcomer at last year’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Dave’s highly anticipated stand up shows are perfect for corporate and sporting functions with a mixed crowd.
“A quick and self deprecating wit.
”An engaging comic with a truly Australian take on life"
- The Age
“He’s razor sharp and very funny.”

Monty Franklin

|
|
Monty first performed stand-up in 2003 at the Gold Coast Arts Centre after an alcohol induced evening resulted in him thinking he could make someone laugh. After realising that he did in fact make someONE laugh in the crowd, he decided to further pursue this idea of being a stand up comedian, despite the fact that he had very little experience in public speaking and would even get nervous ordering a pizza on the telephone.
He has now taken the idea of being a comedian too far and is a regular at all of the best Melbourne comedy clubs, as well as a regular MC/host and has also performed at a number of the best interstate venues including Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra and Adelaide. Despite his relatively short career, he has already been fortunate enough to support some of the biggest names in the country, including Dave Hughes, Greg Fleet, Chris Bennett, Dave Grant and Pommy Johnson and was fortunate enough to host the Pilbara Comedy Muster across Western Australia with headline act Hung Lee.
Monty has appeared on T.V. a number of times performing stand up, as well as being interviewed before the 2006 Melbourne Comedy Festival. Performing at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2005,2006 and 2007, he had great success having a number of sold out shows.
Monty has also been involved in performing at a number of sporting clubs across the country with a group of his comedian mates, having very positive responses.

Robert Michael Pearson

|
|
Robert Michael Pearson has performed in the US, Canada & Japan and is
being hailed as one of the finest visual comic/cabaret performers in the
business today. While co-writing a lot of comedy routines for his former
comedy/singing group, Robert started writing his own style of comedy for
stage. Inspired by such great comedians as 'CHARLIE CHAPLIN' & 'BUSTER
KEATON' of the silent movie era, he created his own off-the-wall act.
Not only using classic & classical pieces of music for his comedy routines he also plays the
fiddle, sings opera & performs a piece from Riverdance. All this combined
he takes the audience on a wonderful journey, & with each routine he
brings to the stage, what ever the audience is expecting him to do he's
as likely to do the complete opposite, a master of misdirection, people
even think he's a ventriloquist but he's not, it's all part of the magic,
you will find out why......he is being hailed as one of the finest visual
comic/cabaret performers at present.
