Clare Castle

The band’s name originates from its roots when in 1998 it was
formed to provide regular entertainment for the patrons of the
Clare Castle Hotel in Rathdowne Street, Carlton. Since then it has
gone on to become an established part of
Melbourne’s musical scene.
With its distinctive and accomplished style, it continues to
delight audiences at RSL’s, markets, fetes, dinner dances,
weddings, jazz church services and many other social occasions.
“Bistro 5” is a smaller “Band within the Band”. It was created in
2004 to fulfil a need at a number of venues, for quieter “Jazz for
Dining”. The group plays at a sound level to permit conversation
early in the evening, then “turns it up” for dancing later on!

Fuego Latin Band

Boasting a line-up of both youth and experience, FUEGO’s eight
member ensemble blends perfectly to provide a mixture of rhythms,
energy and presentation. FUEGO consists of three main vocalists;
Herbert, and two female vocalists, Alma and Rocio, who with their
distinct vocal characteristics give FUEGO a unique front line and
vocal sound.
Mixed with percussion, bass and keyboard sounds provided by the
other members, FUEGO pumps out the sound with non-stop feel and
enthusiasm.
FUEGO plays a variety of different Latin rhythms including the most
common Salsa and Merengue, Cumbia, Bolero and commercial Latin and
English songs which would more than cater for a great Latin night.

Oxo Cubans
|
|
The Oxo Cubans began in 1988 as a busking band. 18 years, 4 cd’s,
3 tuba players and a drummer later they still play original songs
in ways that endlessly explore the possibilities of 5 voices,
a tuba, a trombone, a saxophone, drums and percussion.
“Oxo Cubans unveiled their foolproof method for getting an entire
audience dancing. Called the snowball the method involves two of
the five Oxos taking to the dancefloor while the remaining three
start a song. When the music stops, the dancefloor duo each take a
partner from the audience and continue dancing. When the music
stops all four take a partner and the total becomes eights, then
16, then 32, then 64 etc. Within about three minutes the entire
room was, indeed on the dancefloor – a triumph for logic over
shyness” Adelaide Advertiser

Just as happy with an audience of 50 or 50,000, the band has opened
or closed most of the major arts and street festivals in South East
Australia. The Oxo’s have merged their own style, acousti-funk,
with comedy/cabaret, so put them in one spot and they’ll be jumping

Keep Left
|
|
Keep Left is an exciting party band for functions and pubs covering current top 40 hits and classic pop/rock. With flare and originality Keep left is also working on some fantastic rock originals. Keep left is a 4-piece band that started in late 2003 playing under anther name performing great gigs throughout 2003-2005 at pubs and functions around Melbourne. Settling on the current line up of lead male and female vocals, backing vocals, bass, guitar and drums.
Keep left differs from most party and function cover bands by offering more variety and a great mix of styles and party favourites. The band has a full all-live sound.
Dean, the bass guitarist and male vocalist, is known for being a rock rhythm guitarist and he brings that element to his performing in Keep left. Cassarndra, the female vocalist, has played with some of Melbourne's top cover bands and also worked in the cabaret circuit in London. Brad is one of the hottest young drummers to come out of Melbourne playing hard around Melbourne in top rock bands. Jerry, the guitarist, originally from Tasmania where his original/covers band regularly played the top venues.

Contemporary drum and dance ensemble, ZAZU, presents a colourful and energetic performance of rhythm, movement and song inspired by the party music of Africa, Latin America and the Carribean.
With an impressive display of primitive and modern instruments, they combine their knowledge of jazz and contemporary music with studies under African drumming and dancing masters abroad.
ZAZU bring a new fusion of uplifting tribal beats and rich, melodic flute and song.
They specialize in roving outdoor, all acoustic performance with traditional dance if required. They have played at a variety of functions, both private and corporate and appear at festivals throughout Australia. Their versatile repertoire makes them flexible to the requirements of the event and venue.
Note: Zazu is a 6 piece ensemble which includes two dancers, however they have performed with as few as 3 for smaller mobile performances.

Couscous are an African Drum and Dance Orchestra led by seasoned percussionist and teacher Simon Fraser and have performed at over 50 Melbourne events including Moomba. They are as many as 20 drummers and dancers and look awesome in traditional costumes.

Victoria Gaslight Night Market, Global Garden Festival,
St Kilda, and Sustainable Living Festival @ Federation Square.

Each member of “Appetite For Destruction” has spent many years touring and
playing in the live music scenes throughout Australia, and now they come
together to form an exceptional tribute show, with a faultless live

For more than three years, Melbourne-based Black Pony Express have been honing their sound and gathering a loyal following around Australia’s premier indie venues and through extensive interstate tours.
By turns melancholy and whimsical, Love in a Cold Place is the band’s first full-length release. It contains 12 crafted tracks of melodramatic Australian pop, with influences as diverse as Augie March, Tom Waits, Sparklehorse and Pink Floyd.
Engineered and co-produced by Simon Grounds (Underground Lovers, Snout, Bird Blobs etc), Love in a Cold Place sits comfortably alongside such classic Australian bands as The Triffids and The Go-Betweens and yet is unique enough to stand as a great release in its own right.

Reverend Funk and the Horns of Salvation. Melbourne based 7- 10 piece lineup, playing Soul, Funk, R&B and Disco dance music made famous by the original Masters from the 60's till now. Often quickly re-booked for the same event, this band has performed in almost every corporate venue around Melbourne, every Hotel Ballroom and major event space. Interstate performances across the major Hotels and event spaces in Sydney, not to mention all over Queensland from Port Douglas to Coolongatta! Live shows are packed out with punters just wanting to Shake their Booty's! The band has held down Live residencies at The Evelyn Hotel in Fitzroy, The Next Blue nightclub @ Crown, and currently in its 3rd year at the prestigious restaurant/club/bar Manchester Lane in the heart of Melbourne where the band can be seen performing the first Friday of every month throughout the year.

Dan & Rex

Dan & Rex have been studying music together for the past three years at both NMIT and RMIT University. With their schooling now out of the way, this year has seen the boys performing live more than ever. From local pubs and football clubs to private functions and weddings. Being an acoustic duo, most people could assume the boys are limited in their range of songs and styles, however those people would be wrong. The boys perform an extensive list of songs ranging from the 60's right through to the present day. They will cover Elvis, Bob Marley, The Killers, The Beatles and Eskimo Joe, all in the same set. They particularly enjoy taking a song not generally heard in an acoustic setting and making it their own.
They perform twice a month on Sunday afternoons in Kensington where the vibe is low key and the beers taste sweet after that big night on the town. They also perform twice a month on Friday nights in Williamstown where if dancing is more your thing, then the boys will be sure to get your feet moving. Dan & Rex also perform at weddings and corporate events in the duo setting or with the backing of a live band including drums and bass. A female vocalist is also available upon request.

Da Chos
|
|
Da Chos is a multicultural collective inspired and founded in Latino culture,
its people and its music. The result is a unique fusion of upbeat and
energetic sound mixed with traditional instruments and arrangements…
The band was formed in 2004, bringing together talented musicians who
performed regularly across Melbourne's live music scene. A unique sound
was soon formed from an incorporation of fresh vocals, guitar, percussion,
trombones and trumpet. At the time of the band's initial formation, there was
a distinct lack of bands that performed their own original, quality music.
Da Chos' aim was to 'fill that gap' and produce a distinctive sound that
featured a funky groove with a touch of Latin American spice. Audiences
took little time to embrace this new sound and welcomed the originality of
Da Chos' music and performances at various venues, functions and
community festivals.
